The Battle of The Tikka Frequently Asked Questions
(The BOTTFAQ)

Why was this site created?

5 years ago Indian restaurants were far and few between in the San Francisco Bay Area. Even worse, the choices were limited to expensive fancy Indian Restaurants or sub-standard All-You-Can-Eat buffets. Then something happened... Small Indian restaurants began popping all over town, but they were different. These "Curry-erias" provided quality Indian food that was fast and most importantly expensive. You could get Chicken Tikka Masala and a piece of Naan that was larger than your heard for 6 or 7 dollars even. Neighborhoods that only had 1 indian restaurant now have 4. Neighborhoods have even been renamed to reflect this trend (See the "TandooriLoin"). It has changed the San Francisco culinary landscape forever. As the number of Indian restaurants grew it became harder and harder to figure out who was the best. Thus, Battle of The Tikka was born...

BOTT was designed to allow Bay Area residents to share their experiences with others. You can rate all of your favorite Indian restaurants, and see how others are rated. Each restaurant listing comes complete with information like address, price, and phone number. What's more, with the proliferation of camera phones, you can even easily compare the appearance of Chicken Tikka Masala between numerous restaurants.

What is Chicken Tikka Masala?

It is essentially pieces of a chicken baked in a Tandoori oven served in a red and orange colored cream sauce. While it sounds deceptively simple, some compare the flavor to be as luxurious as Beluga Caviar or Hooters Buffalo Wings. Chicken Tikka Masala is a dish found at almost all Indian restaurants, and is typically the standard that all Indian restaurants are measured. The dish was originated in Great Britain not India, and is considered their crowning acheivement.
